Softball Game Preview: Bloomfield Wildcats vs. Alton Comets

The Bloomfield Wildcats will venture away from home to challenge the Alton Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Bloomfield had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Winona on Friday. Bloomfield put the hurt on Winona with a sharp 15-5 victory. Bloomfield not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 16-1).

Meanwhile, Alton was not the first on the board on Thursday, but they got there more often. They blew past Ellington 13-3. The Comets haven't had any issues with the Whippets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Emma Cauthen spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

At the plate, Brayleigh Campbell was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mollie Warren, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Alton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellington only posted an OBP of .407.

Bloomfield's record is now 7-9. As for Alton, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
