Basketball Game Preview: Sterling Tigers vs. Weld Central Rebels

Sterling is 4-0 against Weld Central since January of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Sterling Tigers will be playing at home against the Weld Central Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Thursday, Sterling was beaten by Forge Christian 82-39.

Sterling's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dayten DiOrio, who posted eight points, and Caleb Garcia, who had six points.

Meanwhile, Weld Central took a blow against Bennett on Tuesday, falling 62-33. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 280th, while the Tigers are ranked 92nd).

Sterling's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Weld Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Sterling strolled past Weld Central when the teams last played back in February of 2024 by a score of 52-37. Will Sterling repeat their success, or does Weld Central have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
