Baseball Recap: Palm Desert Triumphs

Palm Desert won the last time they faced La Quinta and things went their way on Friday too. The Palm Desert Aztecs narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the La Quinta Blackhawks 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Aztecs.

Jake Brande spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Palm Desert's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Stevie Hutchinson, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. That stolen base marked the first that Hutchinson snagged this season.

Palm Desert now has a winning record of 4-3. As for La Quinta, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Palm Desert wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-1 win against Rancho Mirage on the 12th. As for La Quinta, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 13-0 victory against Palm Springs on the 11th.
