After both having extra time off, Colleton County and Edisto will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Edisto will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Colleton County extended their winning streak to four last Friday. The Cougars never let Hilton Head Island get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory.
Bre Gerard made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Colleton County let Brooklyn Holmes and Alexia Eversole run wild. Holmes went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Eversole went 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those five RBI gave Holmes a new career-high. Lanasia Sanders was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Colleton County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .441. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hilton Head Island only posted a batting average of .000.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edisto). Everything went their way against Lake Marion last Friday as they made off with a 33-7 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.
Tristan Fogle was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, four runs, and five RBI. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Raven McDougal, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with eight stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI.
Colleton County's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Edisto, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
Edisto's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Colleton County hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .418. It's a different story for Edisto, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Colleton County's hitters?
Everything went Colleton County's way against Edisto in their previous meeting back in March, as Colleton County made off with a 13-0 win. Does Colleton County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Edisto turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
