Baseball Game Preview: McLane Highlanders vs. Lemoore Tigers

The McLane Highlanders will take on the Lemoore Tigers at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

McLane is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Roosevelt on Friday. They fell just short of the Rough Riders by a score of 3-2.

Meanwhile, Lemoore might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Dinuba who claimed the real prize. The Tigers fell just short of the Emperors by a score of 4-3.

Ben Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Lemoore's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-5. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for McLane, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

McLane might still be hurting after the 18-3 loss they got from Lemoore when the teams last played back in March of 2017. Can the Highlanders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
