Basketball Game Preview: Riverheads Gladiators vs. Stuarts Draft Cougars

Riverheads hasn't had much luck against Stuarts Draft recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Riverheads Gladiators will face off against the Stuarts Draft Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Riverheads knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Stuarts Draft likes a good challenge.

Riverheads is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Bath County 83-42 on Thursday. The Gladiators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 41 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Stuarts Draft had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They walked away with a 55-48 win over the Falcons.

Riverheads has also been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.7 points per game. As for Stuarts Draft, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4.

Riverheads came up short against Stuarts Draft in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 59-48. Can Riverheads avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
