Softball Recap: Richwoods Has No Trouble Against Midwest Central

Richwoods's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Midwest Central Raiders. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their one-run performance the game before.

Kayla Carver made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Carver was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Morrissey, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Leah Shaffer, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Richwoods always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Richwoods' win bumped their record up to 4-15. As for Midwest Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Richwoods will challenge Peoria Notre Dame at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Midwest Central, they will welcome Beardstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
