Baseball Recap: Moshannon Valley Wins Going Away Against Glendale

Moshannon Valley came out on top against Glendale on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run first inning. The Black Knights/Damsels were the clear victors by a 14-1 margin over the Vikings. The matchup marked the Black Knights/Damsels' most dominant win of the season.

Brady Kephart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Moshannon Valley is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. Kephart was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Rocco Reifer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Mason Abernethy, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

The victory got Moshannon Valley back to even at 8-8. As for Glendale, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Moshannon Valley will head out to face off against Harmony Area at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Glendale, they will venture away from home to challenge Curwensville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
