Softball Game Preview: Glenn Falcons vs. Hanover Central Wildcats

The Glenn Falcons will challenge the Hanover Central Wildcats at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Glenn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Glenn fell victim to Jimtown and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jimmies. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

McKenzie Timm spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Hanover Central got the win against Hebron on Thursday by a conclusive 17-1. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

Hanover Central got a great performance from Claire Edgerton as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sienna Antkiewicz, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Oostman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Hanover Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Glenn now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Hanover Central, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-7.

Glenn's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's match. The Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game.
