Football Game Preview: Coconut Creek Cougars vs. Atlantic Eagles

The Coconut Creek Cougars will face off against the Atlantic Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

On Friday, Coconut Creek took their matchup with ease, bagging a 45-6 victory over South Broward. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 226th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coconut Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jordan Thompson, who gained 170 total yards and two touchdowns, and Josiah Sanchious, who threw for 182 yards and three TDs on only 12 passes. Thompson got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 80 yards. Coconut Creek also got help from Keyondre McClover, who showed off his sure hands for 82 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Coconut Creek proved: they limited South Broward to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The Cougars' ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.8.

Meanwhile, Atlantic put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Treasure Coast as they made off with a 30-8 win.

Atlantic's victory bumped their record up to 6-0. As for Coconut Creek, their win bumped their record up to 6-1.
