Baseball Recap: Oxnard Triumphs

Oxnard came out on top against Santa Monica on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Yellowjackets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Vikings. That's more bragging rights for the Yellowjackets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Oxnard's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was AJ Camarena, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Another was Gavin Ramos, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

The victory got Oxnard back to even at 1-1. As for Santa Monica, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Oxnard will head out on the road to square off against Thousand Oaks at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Yellowjackets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Santa Monica, they will be playing at home against Woodrow Wilson at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
