Port Huron Northern took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against Dakota, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Huskies had just enough and edged out the Cougars 8-7. The win was familiar territory for the Huskies, who have now won seven contests in a row.

Port Huron Northern's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-2-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Dakota, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 22-14 record this season.
