Baseball Preview: Immaculate Mustangs vs. New Fairfield Rebels        
        
		
            Immaculate hasn't had much luck against New Fairfield recently, but that could start to change  on Monday. The Mustangs will head out to  square off against the Rebels  at 4:15  p.m. Immaculate has given up an average of 7.3  runs per game this season, but Monday's  game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Immaculate managed to slip by Norwich Free Academy the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mustangs lost  12-2 to the Wildcats on Saturday. The Mustangs' defeat continues a  trend for the  team, making it three in a row.
 Immaculate saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was  Christian Robitaille, who  went 1-for-2 with one  RBI.
Meanwhile, New Fairfield fought the good fight in their extra-innings  game against Bethel  on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of  8-7. The Rebels have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
 Nicolas Martini put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound,   not allowing a single  earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't  given up  a single  earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate,  going 3-for-4 with three  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  RBI. New Fairfield is 4-2 when  Martini posts two or  more  runs, but 1-6 otherwise.
 In other batting news,  Andrew Dossena made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 1-for-3 with one  stolen base, one  double,  and one  RBI.  Joe Gera also deserves some recognition as  he  got his first  hits of the season.
 Immaculate's record is now 4-8. As for New Fairfield, their record now sits at 5-8.
 Immaculate came up short against New Fairfield when the teams last played  back in May of 2024, falling  9-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
