Middleburg and Bartram Trail are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Broncos will host the Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Middleburg 3.2, Bartram Trail 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Thursday, Middleburg got the win against Ponte Vedra by a conclusive 9-3. Considering the Broncos have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cloey Ballinger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 5.1 innings pitched. Ballinger was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Izzy Pifer was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Emma Ward was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI.
Middleburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponte Vedra only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, Bartram Trail fell victim to Keystone Heights and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Indians by a score of 1-0. Considering the last time the Bears couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.
Middleburg has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for Bartram Trail, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.
Everything went Middleburg's way against Bartram Trail when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Middleburg made off with a 9-0 win. Do the Broncos have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
