Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northwest Classen). They blew past the Capitol Hill Redwolves 18-9 on Thursday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

The team relied heavily on Sam McClure, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases. He has become a key player for Northwest Classen: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 6-11 otherwise. Jayden Mayfield was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Northwest Classen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .562. Their batting average was a full 0 higher than the also-impressive .400 that Capitol Hill posted.

Northwest Classen's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road and puts them at 9-12. As for Capitol Hill, they dropped their record down to 8-19 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest Classen will challenge Douglass at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Knights are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Capitol Hill, they will face off against Ardmore at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.36 runs per game on average), something the Redwolves will no doubt try to take advantage of.
