Softball Recap: Waltrip Extends Winning Streak to Five

Waltrip put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Westbury Huskies with a sharp 18-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Ariana Molina made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Molina was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Waltrip got a massive performance out of Holley Chavez, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. The dominant performance gave Chavez a new career-high in stolen bases. Gizelle Garcia was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Waltrip always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .758. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Waltrip's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Westbury, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Waltrip will square off against Sharpstown at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Westbury, they will take on Milby at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Westbury has given up an average of 17.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
