The Liberty Christian Warriors are taking a road trip to square off against the Dallas Christian Chargers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Liberty Christian's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Parish Episcopal as they made off with a 15-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.
Makenzie Byler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Combest, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two triples. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Faith Ford was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and two doubles.
Liberty Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Parish Episcopal only posted an OBP of .077.
Meanwhile, Dallas Christian got the win against Prince of Peace on Wednesday by a conclusive 11-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chargers.
Chloe Rodriguez spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 12 Ks.
On the hitting side, Zailey Freeman was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Raegan Haar also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Dallas Christian pushed their record up to 12-3-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for Liberty Christian, their record now sits at 12-5-1.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .516. However, it's not like Dallas Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .427. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
