Basketball Recap: Gillespie Miners vs. Carrollton Hawks
Gillespie kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell 47-38 to the Carrollton Hawks. The Miners haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Lauren Flowers had a dynamite game for Carrollton, going 8 for 14 en route to 19 points plus six rebounds and five steals. Flowers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed four or more in the last four games she's played dating back to last season. Megan Camden was another key player, scoring six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Gillespie will be taking part in a tournament against Mater Dei at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carrollton, they will challenge South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
