Baseball Recap: Tomball Memorial Takes a Loss

Tomball Memorial was the 5-2 winner over Tompkins when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Tomball Memorial Wildcats fell just short of the Tompkins Falcons by a score of 5-4 on Thursday.

Jake Barron was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. Rilyn Andrews also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Barron wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Tomball Memorial lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Tomball Memorial has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6-1 record this season. The win (which was Tompkins' third in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Tomball Memorial Wildcats face off against Colleyville Heritage Panthers at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Tompkins, they will be taking part in a tournament against Clear Lake at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
