Baseball Recap: Tenafly Comes Up Short

Tenafly extended their losing streak to seven on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-20 in the process. They came up short against the St. Joseph Regional Green Knights, falling 11-0. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 10-1 to the Green Knights when the teams met back in May of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for St. Joseph Regional, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-10 record this season. The result was nothing new for St. Joseph Regional, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

For St. Joseph Regional's part, Andrew Coyle looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brady Shust, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI. Devin Buntzen was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Tenafly does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Joseph Regional, they will take on St. Mary at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Green Knights 3.6, the Gaels 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
