Recap: Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons vs. St. Mary's Knights
The Adrian/Ellsworth Dragons pushed their score all the way to 55 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were outmatched by St. Mary on the road and fell 84-55. While losing is never fun, Adrian/Ellsworth can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 385th, while St. Mary's is ranked 120th).
It was another big night for Will Walter, who scored 32 points along with seven assists and five rebounds for St. Mary's. Walter has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last 12 times he's played. Another player making a difference was George Schwint, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Adrian/Ellsworth has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for St. Mary's, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-4.
Adrian/Ellsworth will head out on the road to face off against Sibley-Ocheyedan on Monday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 11 consecutive losses for Sibley-Ocheyedan and three for Adrian/Ellsworth. As for St. Mary's, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wabasso at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wabasso is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
