Basketball Recap: Stanton County Comes Up Short

Stanton County was the 28-19 winner over Syracuse when they last played one another two weeks ago, but their luck changed this time around. The Stanton County Trojans fell 42-29 to the Syracuse Bulldogs on Friday.

Despite the loss, Stanton County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kynzi Fehringer dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Scott, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Stanton County's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-7. As for Syracuse, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-6.

Stanton County has already played their next matchup, a 57-29 win against Elkhart on the 4th. As for Syracuse, they will square off against Deerfield at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th.
