Basketball Recap: Northwood Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

NorthWood had won seven straight road games and Claire Payne did her part to make it eight on Saturday. The NorthWood Panthers enjoyed a cozy 42-26 victory over the Wawasee Warriors thanks in part to Payne, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards. She has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times she's played.

The team also got some help courtesy of Megan Yoder, who posted six points. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in rebounds (four).

Despite the loss, Wawasee still got an impressive performance from Mackenzie Hackleman, who earned 14 points and five rebounds.

NorthWood's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Wawasee, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-5.

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the NorthWood Panthers challenge the Bremen Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Bremen's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matchups. As for Wawasee, they will challenge Columbia City at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
