Baseball Recap: West Boca Raton Takes a Loss

West Boca Raton and Southridge squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but West Boca Raton had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Bulls seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Gavin Russell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Boca Raton is 6-3 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-12 otherwise.

West Boca Raton's defeat dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Southridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-10 record this season.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Boca Raton beat Southridge by a score of 7-5 on Thursday.
