Baseball Recap: Montrose Takes a Loss

Montrose fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Grand Junction Central on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 3-2. The Red Hawks just can't catch a break and have now endured eight defeats in a row.

Garrett Wolfe was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Jack Pankey made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Montrose's loss dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Grand Junction Central, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-8 and their overall record up to 5-16.

While Montrose had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
