Volleyball Recap: Peyton Comes Up Short

Peyton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Calhan Bulldogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 3-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Peyton actually scored more points across those five sets (100-95), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 12-25, 25-23, 25-19, 18-25, 15-8.

Samantha Nickell paced Peyton's offense, picking up 17 kills. Nickell got some help from Cassidy Miller and her 20 assists. Miller was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Peyton's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Calhan, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-8.

Looking ahead, Peyton will head out on the road to square off against Simla at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Calhan, they will venture away from home to take on Swink at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
