Baseball Game Preview: Kearns Cougars vs. West Jordan Jaguars

Kearns hasn't had much luck against West Jordan recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Cougars will look to defend their home field against the Jaguars at 3:30 p.m. Kearns has given up an average of 11.9 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Kearns is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 18th straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 11-1 to Cyprus.

Kearns saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lyrik Bandera, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Carson Evans also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, West Jordan waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They skirted past the Timberwolves 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Jaguars have posted since March 15th.

Ethan Baldwin made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Brock Litchfield was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

West Jordan hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

Kearns' loss dropped their record down to 0-17. As for West Jordan, their victory bumped their record up to 16-3.
