Recap: St. Pius X Panthers vs. St. Thomas Catholic Eagles
Even though the St. Pius X Panthers have not done well against the St. Thomas Catholic Eagles recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. St. Pius X narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 59-56. The win made it back-to-back wins for St. Pius X.
It was another big night for Grant Shupak, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Rocky Massiatte was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, St. Thomas Catholic still got an impressive performance from Caleb Kimble, who scored 17 points along with five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aron Valentine, who scored 16 points.
The win got St. Pius X back to even at 13-13. As for St. Thomas Catholic, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Pius X will square off against the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for St. Thomas Catholic, they will head out on the road to take on the Apaches at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
