Softball Recap: Naugatuck Takes a Loss

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither Naugatuck nor Wolcott made it on the board until the seventh inning. The Greyhounds fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Greyhounds couldn't push the score so high this time.

Leah Chatfield spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

Naugatuck's record now sits at 5-8. As for Wolcott, their record is now 6-4.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Naugatuck is set to take on their familiar foe Ansonia at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Wolcott will face off against rival Waterbury Career Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
