Softball Recap: Lincoln Wins Going Away Against Sun Valley Magnet

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Lincoln walked away with it. They blew past the Sun Valley Magnet Pioneers 8-1 on Wednesday. Considering the Tigers have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lincoln let Monica Amaya and Monica Vences run wild. Amaya went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Vences got on base in three of her six plate appearances with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Mel Martinez, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

The victory got Lincoln back to even at 9-9. As for Sun Valley Magnet, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will face off against University at 2:15 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. Sun Valley Magnet does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
