Soccer Game Preview: Satellite vs. Merritt Island

The Satellite Scorpions will face off against the Merritt Island Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Satellite is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.5 goals per game this season.

Satellite is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Mount Dora a 2-0 shutout. Given the Scorpions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Hurricanes are ranked 270th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kiersten Paulsson and Paige Collins scored both of Satellite's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 23 goals.

Meanwhile, Merritt Island waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Highlanders as they made off with a 5-2 win.

Satellite is also on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7-1 record this season. As for Merritt Island, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5-3.
