Football Game Preview: LaGrange Grangers vs. North Clayton Eagles

After each having a week off, the LaGrange Grangers and the North Clayton Eagles will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on the 14th. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Thursday, LaGrange earned a 26-14 win over Upson-Lee. Given the Grangers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while the Knights are ranked 150th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

North Clayton never got on the board in their matchup back in October, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mt. Zion on Thursday. They strolled past the Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 33-14. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

LaGrange better keep an eye on Justin Murphy. He was instrumental in North Clayton's win, rushing for 151 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 116 yards on only ten passes. Another player making a difference was Dre'Von Glass, who rushed for 82 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries.

North Clayton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 314 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

LaGrange's record is now 8-2. As for North Clayton, their record now sits at an identical 8-2.

Everything came up roses for LaGrange against North Clayton in their previous matchup back in October of 2023, as the team secured a 56-6 win. In that matchup, the Grangers amassed a halftime lead of 49-6, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on the 14th.
