Baseball Recap: Civic Memorial's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Freeburg, Civic Memorial was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Jacksonville Crimsons a 3-0 shutout. The Eagles have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Crimsons, too.

Not much got past Chase Butler, who gave up just seven hits and racked up 13 Ks to keep Jacksonville off the board.

At the plate, Civic Memorial's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Mills, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Civic Memorial hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacksonville struck out 13 times.

Civic Memorial's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-15. As for Jacksonville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Civic Memorial will venture away from home to take on Waterloo at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Jacksonville, they will head out to challenge Pittsfield at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
