Softball Recap: Homer-Center Gets the Win

After losing to Conemaugh Township the last time they met, Homer-Center decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Indians a 19-0 shutout on Monday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by six runs or more this season.

Bekah Marshall made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. Marshall was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Madison Brendlinger was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Ava King was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Homer-Center always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Conemaugh Township only posted an OBP of .143.

Homer-Center now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Conemaugh Township, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

Homer-Center does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Conemaugh Township, they will host United at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
