Football Recap: Centralia Piles Up the Points Against Granite City + How To Watch

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Waterloo, Centralia was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They breezed past the Granite City Warriors to the tune of 42-6. Given the Orphans' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 167th, while the Warriors are ranked 434th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Centralia found their leader in sophomore Archie Goewey, who threw for 156 yards and four touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes.

Centralia pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.2 points over those games. As for Granite City, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Centralia will venture away from home to face off against Carbondale at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Orphans are facing the Terriers at the right time seeing as the Terriers are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Granite City, they are taking a road trip to take on Collinsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
