Volleyball Game Preview: Cape Fear Colts vs. Ashley Screaming Eagle

The Cape Fear Colts will square off against the Ashley Screaming Eagle at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Cape Fear is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Pinecrest just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 3-1 to the Patriots.

Cape Fear actually scored more points across those four sets (93-92), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 17-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Meanwhile, with a playoff win on the line, Ashley rose to the challenge on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Spartans.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Ashley was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-9, 25-12, 25-11.

Cape Fear's loss dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Ashley, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-10 record this season.
