Volleyball Recap: Michigan City Gets the Win

Michigan City proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past the Crown Point Bulldogs 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Wolves: when they faced off against the Bulldogs back in April, they had to take a 3-0 loss.

Michigan City was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (102-97), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 13-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-11.

Ethan Hlas paced Michigan City's offense, picking up 16 kills. Hlas got some help from Mark Mills and his 44 assists. Finally, Mills was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Despite the defeat, Crown Point had strong showings from Gio Del Real, who had 12 digs, and Cole Gibbs, who had nine digs and one assist.

Michigan City pushed their record up to 14-13 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Crown Point, they now have a losing record of 13-14.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Michigan City will face off against La Porte at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolves are facing the Slicers at the right time seeing as the Slicers are stuck on an eight-game losing streak. As for Crown Point, they will take on Morgan Township at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
