Basketball Recap: Vidor Comes Up Short

Vidor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. The contest between them and the Silsbee Tigers didn't end well, with the Vidor Pirates falling 67-48. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1161st, while the Tigers are ranked 316th).

Silsbee's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ayana Washington led the charge by going 10 for 16 on her way to 25 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Jena Warden, who went 8 of 15 en route to 20 points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Vidor's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Silsbee, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-7.

Vidor has already played their next matchup (against Jasper), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Silsbee has already played their next game, a 61-53 loss against Lumberton on the 23rd.
