Baseball Game Preview: Rhea County Golden Eagles vs. North Texas C Crusaders

The Rhea County Golden Eagles will take on the North Texas C Crusaders in a tournament on Friday. Rhea County is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Cleveland hit Rhea County with a four-run first inning on Sunday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Golden Eagles came up short against the Blue Raiders, falling 10-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Corydon Butler made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for North Texas C's offense. They lost 8-0 to Heritage Christian on Thursday. The shutout was out of character for the Crusaders seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

North Texas C saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Clark Kennedy, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Rhea County's defeat dropped their record down to 9-21. As for North Texas C, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-13-1 record this season.
