Basketball Game Preview: Eads Eagles vs. Cheraw Wolverines

The Eads Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Cheraw Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Eads is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

Last Saturday, Eads earned a 46-36 win over Idalia.

Eads can attribute much of their success to Anna Wollert, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds, and Tailee Weeks-Johnson, who went 6 of 8 en route to 15 points and six boards. Wollert is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordynn Turcotte, who posted five points.

Eads smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Cheraw unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They lost to Cheyenne Wells at home by a 36-21 margin.

Eads is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. As for Cheraw, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

Eads was able to grind out a solid victory over Cheraw in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, winning 37-24. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eads since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
