Basketball Recap: NCSSM: Morganton Comes Up Short

NCSSM: Morganton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 32nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Owen Warhorses 53-15. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Dragons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 31-24 back in January.

Savannah Hollingsworth had a dynamite game for Owen, putting up 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance gave Hollingsworth a new career-high in points. Elly Wright was another key player, scoring six points and seven steals.

NCSSM: Morganton's record is now 0-14. As for Owen, their win ended an 11-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-18.

NCSSM: Morganton and Owen could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings. NCSSM: Morganton (ranked 578th) will meet Mitchell (ranked 189th) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Owen will face off against Avery County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday down 405 places (552 vs. 147).
