Basketball Game Preview: Millville Thunderbolts vs. Bridgeton Bulldogs

The Millville Thunderbolts will take on the Bridgeton Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.

Last Tuesday, Millville lost to Salem on the road by a 64-48 margin. While losing is never fun, the Thunderbolts can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 261st, while the Rams are ranked 94th).

Meanwhile, Bridgeton wrapped up 2024 with a 62-47 win over Glassboro.

Millville better keep an eye on Jameell Purnell. He was instrumental in Bridgeton's win, dropping a double-double on 36 points and 11 rebounds. Purnell's morning made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyion Gray, who posted 17 points.

Bridgeton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Millville's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Bridgeton, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.

Millville couldn't quite finish off Bridgeton in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 and fell 83-81. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Purnell, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 13 boards.
