Preview: Haines City Hornets vs. Davenport Broncos

Haines City has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Davenport Broncos at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Haines City focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Monday.

Even though Haines City has not done well against Lake Wales recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Haines City came out on top in a nail-biter against Lake Wales and snuck past 61-58. The win was just what Haines City needed coming off of a 74-54 loss in their prior match.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Haines City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ixion Toro, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Toro has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jorge Ramirez, who scored 21 points along with two steals.

Meanwhile, Davenport came up short against Auburndale on Thursday and fell 55-46. Davenport has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Haines City's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-15. As for Davenport, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Haines City came up short against Davenport in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, falling 52-46. Will Haines City have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
