Softball Preview: Lawrence County Bulldogs vs. Prestonsburg Blackcats        
        
		
            
 Lawrence County is 9-0 against Prestonsburg since April of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Thursday. The Lawrence County Bulldogs will be staying on the road  to face off against the Prestonsburg Blackcats at 6:00  p.m. Lawrence County is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 14.4  runs per game this season.
 On Wednesday, Lawrence County earned  a  9-4 win over Dawson-Bryant. Despite the  victory, that was the fewest  runs Lawrence County has scored all season.
  Taylor Blevins spent all seven innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned  (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Bree Jones, who  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Jones is crushing it when it comes to  stolen bases: she's   stolen at least one every time she's  taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Gracie Preece, who  scored two  runs and  stole a base while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile,  after a string of three wins, Prestonsburg's good fortune finally ran out  on Monday. They fell  13-8 to Knott County Central.
 Lawrence County pushed their record up to 8-0 with that  win, which was their fifth straight  on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 15.0 runs per game. As for Prestonsburg, their loss  ended  a  three-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 4-2.
 Everything went Lawrence County's way against Prestonsburg in their previous matchup  back in May of 2023 as Lawrence County made off with  a  19-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lawrence County since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
