Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Lorelei Castaneda and Jemma Walker Lead West Creek to Victory

West Creek waltzed into their match on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Henry County Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in August.

West Creek was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (109-105), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 18-25, 21-25, 25-23, 16-14.

Leading West Creek to victory were Jemma Walker and Lorelei Castaneda. Walker had ten digs and three aces, while Castaneda had 12 digs and four assists. That's the most digs Walker has posted over her last eight contests. Emilia Contreras also deserves some recognition as she had her first kills of the season.

They weren't the only good server: West Creek was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive games.

West Creek's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Henry County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Creek will welcome Kenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Coyote are facing the Knights at the right time seeing as the Knights are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Henry County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Dickson County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
