Baseball Recap: Panther Creek Takes a Loss

Panther Creek had lost four straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-18 to make it five. They came up short against the Middle Creek Mustangs, falling 8-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Catamounts haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for Middle Creek, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Middle Creek's part, not much got past Ryan Morris, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Panther Creek off the board. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Morris.

On the hitting side, Caden Miner was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Will Tobin, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

While Panther Creek had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
