Recap: Isabella Mustangs vs. Thorsby Rebels

After flying high against Comer last Tuesday, Isabella came back down to earth. The Isabella Mustangs suffered a rough 14-8 loss at the hands of the Thorsby Rebels on Tuesday. Isabella has not had much luck with Thorsby recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Amelia Fjeldstad made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliza Lovett, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

On Thorsby's side, Makinley Turner made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off five hits. Turner has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive pitching appearances. Turner was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Thorsby got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Reeser, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brinley Giambrone, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Isabella's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Thorsby, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.

Isabella will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Verbena at 6:00 p.m. on April 2nd. As for Thorsby, they will be playing in front of their home fans against West Blocton at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have allowed few runs on average, (West Blocton: 3.9, Thorsby: 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
