Preview: Gloucester Fishermen vs. Hanover Hawks

The Gloucester Fishermen will head out on the road to face off against the Hanover Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Friday, everything went Gloucester's way against Beverly as Gloucester made off with a 42-21 victory. The victory was just what Gloucester needed coming off of a 28-7 loss in their prior matchup.

John Gucciardi went supernova for Gloucester, rushing for 132 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries, while also throwing for 212 yards and four touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes. Brady Patten was in the mix as well, providing Gloucester with two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Hanover put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past North Quincy 42-13 on the road. Considering Hanover has won five games by more than 21 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Hanover can attribute much of their success to Ben Scalzi, who threw for 155 yards and four touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Mehki Bryan, who picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Gloucester's win was their fifth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-3. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-8 Beverly and 0-8 Somerville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 18.2% over those games). As for Hanover, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
