Softball Recap: Northeast Jones Continues Home Dominance on Monday

Northeast Jones posted their closest win since April 15, 2024 on Monday. They had just enough and edged out the Mize Bulldogs 9-7. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Bulldogs two weeks ago, they had to take a 6-3 loss.

The team relied heavily on Madison Evans, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-5. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alex Whigham, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Evans wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Northeast Jones kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Northeast Jones' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mize, they moved to 8-3 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Northeast Jones Tigers challenge Morton Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mize has already played their next matchup (against Heidelberg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
