Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Melody Duran and Kaylonie Nevarez Lead Dexter to Victory

There's no place like home for Dexter, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Reserve Mountaineers by a score of 41-29 on Thursday. For the Demons, this counts as revenge for the 43-31 win the Mountaineers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Leading Dexter to victory were Kaylonie Nevarez and Melody Duran. Nevarez went 8 for 14 on her way to 17 points, while Duran posted eight points in addition to 13 boards and eight assists. Those 17 points gave Nevarez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Berzely Saucedo, who put up two points and four steals.

The victory got Dexter back to even at 4-4. As for Reserve, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-2.

Dexter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 53-18 loss against Melrose on the 20th. As for Reserve, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-31 win against Cloudcroft on the 20th.
